Glutton for punishment?

I have unpacked my brush cutter today, braving the drizzle and fog to attack the two overgrown and bramble infested allotments at the top end of ours. This is not an act of benevolence but purely to slow down the encroachment on our plots.....

Before....

After....

  1. Impressed.
Is anyone likely to take them on? It seems a shame to have vacant plots when so many waiting lists are full.

  2. Hi Shinny, a good question. Both plots were taken on last year in the Spring. There was some activity and clearing taking place on both. However within weeks they had both given up and the plots have been left to overgrow as they were in the first place. I think that although there is a waiting list, the Council can't easily let very neglected plots. It would seem like most people prefer to wait for someone to give up a looked-after plot instead. The Council also very occasionally send a few men on site to do some clearance of neglected plots but this is normally minimal and at very long intervals. The result is that the plots soon return to wilderness.
