Anyone wondering what is going on with the wall behind the bench, that is a bit of madness that resulted when we decided to brighten up the view of rather a shabby wall from the kitchen window. It is very bright and still takes us by surprise but makes us happy too....!
This blog will attempt to document the progress as we tackle an allotment from scratch which has been totally neglected, 5 feet deep in thick brambles with much rubbish underneath. We are using recommended heavy hand tools which we have not used before and will be commenting on their effectiveness as we go. Finally we are trying to complete this without wrecking my bad back which has a history of dodgyness after a bout of disc prolapse!

Going potty!
It's a really lovely morning so the potting bench has been given a trial run. (Looks much better with it's wood stain finish I must say!). I added a top from 5mm black plastic sheet and it's very pleasant to work on! You will see in one pic that I have chopped up some old guttering into lengths and stuck cardboard ends on with parcel tape. These will fit in our mini plastic greenhouse. They will have peas in them and eventually I can drop them in my car boot and trundle them down to the allotment and slide them straight into a trench..
